Session IX
General Summary
Meeting up at the tavern, Perry and Will have some morning pints before setting out together with Raaf and Morathric for Cordelia's Apothecary shop. When they arrive there, they find the place empty, Cordelia seemingly having grabbed her clothes and coin and left after breakfast, Morathric finding a burned letter in the fireplace mentioning a "Rugger's Boarding House". Before they can formulate a plan, the door is kicked in and the bounty hunter Ingrid Wenig, two pistols in hand, steps inside to accost the party, together with the other bounty hunter the group encountered the day before, Jannik Fanger.
After a display of magic, some tea-brewing, and a lot of talking down (and emotional duress), the two bounty hunters and the party come to agree to work together to catch the Witch-Killer that is on the loose, Hannah Baumann. The party suggests setting up a trap by spreading rumours of a mage being afoot somewhere in town and then catching the Witch Killer in the attempted act - Ingrid knows a place where they can hire a cheap room where guards are unlikely to intervene and violence is not uncommon.
Thus, she leads them to Rugger's Boarding House while Yannik and Perry see about spreading the rumour on the way there. It is not long after arriving there that they can hear shouting and the sounds of combat - and upon barging into the room the sound originated from, they find Hannah Baumann in a fight with Cordelia herself, while the latter's friend lays unconscious on the floor, bleeding out.
Whole Morathric, Will, Perry, and Ingrid see to fighting Hannah, who strikes down Cordelia, Raaf manages to drag both Cordelia and her friend out of the room and stop their bleeding, likely saving their lives, before opening fire with his pistol on the killer. With Morathric, Will, and Raaf all getting hits in while Ingrid manages to make a lot of noise with her pistols, Hannah, with a badly injured leg, gets out of the window and onto the rooftop, trying to make her escape while the party gives chase.
Eventually reaching the end of the rooftop, Hannah tries jumping onto the next one, but her injured leg causes her to barely miss her jump, and as her grip on the edge of the rooftop slips, she falls down into a nearby street, dead on impact with the sickening sound of her spine snapping. As the party sets out to get back inside and onto the street to claim their bounty, Morathric tries to descend the rooftop with a grappling hook and rope, but as he sees about attaching the hook to the rooftop properly, he slips, and fails to get a grip, falling down onto the streets in kind...
