The Imperial Herald, Lady Emmanuelle Nacht

Lady Emmannuelle Nacht is the daughter of Duke Gregor Nacht, a now assassinated former ambassador of the Empire to Grand Cathay, and as such spent much of her childhood in the far east. Following her father's assassination, she spent time at the Imperial Court investigating a group named "The Purple Hand", whom she believed to be responsible for her father's demise. At Emperor Karl Franz's personal request, however, she has been dispatched to Ubersreik to personally oversee the pacification of the fortress-town.
As Imperial Herald, those few 'in the know' consider her to be the true power in Ubersreik as she carries with her the authority and mandate of the Emperor himself, although she is often only quietly spoken of, the general von Dabernick making more of a show out of appearing to be in power, and as a result he is commonly regarded to be the one in power in Ubersreik. She is rarely seen outside of the Grauer Palast, a squat keep in the northeastern part of the Black Rock fortress-complex, however, yet her reach seems far and vast.
Nacht always dresses in the finery of a noble fresh from the Imperial Court, her green-velvet cloak pinned at one shoulder with an expensive, but understated, gem-studded brooch. Her steady gaze is said to be able to give a Manticore pause.
