Cavalier Arms Balrick LEO-Carbine

Written by: Ripshot

If you've been watching local news (or watching streams of hacked police cameras), you might've seen some Lone Star cops pulling one of these little fellas out the back of their patrol cars and motorcycles. Turns out Lone Star have been patronizing arms-manufacturers looking for weapons that have been 'purpose-made' for police use. Specifically, they're asking for a compact and easy-to-retrieve weapons platform that can punch a hole through basic body-armor but still have a reliable non-lethal option on demand. After a few failed attempts at working with muzzle-loading prototypes, Cavalier Arms submitted a different take on the concept, and Lone Star liked it enough that they're giving it some field-trials in Raleigh.   The Baldrick's a semi-automatic rifle with a dual magazine-feed, made to be short and stubby so it can fit in a pursuit bike's pannier, and as mechanically simple as a gun with two feeds can be so it doesn't jam right when the poor slot needs it most. The idea behind the dual magazine system is that you load one with gel-rounds or stick-'n-shock and the other with conventional ammo, so you can switch from one to the other as you need it without having to juggle mags.
In practice, Lone Star's already had one hastily covered-up incident of a cop 'accidentally' double-tapping a shoplifter with steel-jacketed rounds. Big shock, no?

Probably doesn't help that the beautifully made receiver lets you switch mags mid-spray without so much as slowing down the rate of fire. Time that properly, you can empty one mag and keep your suppression going on the second one without pause.

Cavalier Arms have also released a 'civilian legal' version of the Baldrick with an extended and unthreaded barrel and some tacky not-tactical furniture so it doesn't scare away the fudds. Expect to see a lot of them hastily converted from the LEO version if the corp can't secure a contract with Lone Star to supply them with more.
