Federated-Boeing PBY-70 "Catalina II"

FEDERATED-BOEING PBY-70 At first glance, the PBY-70 looks like a throwback that belongs in a museum rather than flying in the Sixth World. But this bird, to paraphrase an older flat-vid movie, has “got it where it counts.”
In 2050, the Catalina II began as a personal restoration project of F-B’s top aeronautics engineer. Using the latest technologies of the time, he completely restored an old WWII Catalina PBY like a classic car, but with a few upgrades. In 2059, F-B’s then-owner/CEO found out about the project and asked for a demonstration. Impressed, he decided to give rival Fiat-Fokker (with their classic Cloud-9) a run for their money in the amphibious aircraft market and authorized the PBY-70 project.
The first new aircraft took to the skies in 2065 and went into limited production in 2070, with full production beginning in 2075.
Outwardly, the Catalina II looks almost exactly like its predecessor, except that it boasts modern turbo-prop engines and is approximately twenty percent larger. While the prop engines make it markedly slower than similar jet-powered aircraft, the Catalina II makes up for it in range. The large wings enables the Catalina to glide and cruise at mid-to-high altitude on only one engine, drastically reducing fuel consumption. Other features include a small but comfortable cabin with modular cots to accommodate a variety of metahuman sizes (three humans is standard) and a sizable cargo compartment that can double as a passenger area (six average metahumans). Just the thing for long working vacations.
For defense, the Catalina has three “gunner” positions at the nose and two at the waist, along with two hard points on each wing. And because she won’t break any speed records, she also boasts a powerful ECM/ ECCM unit to help deal with pesky things like missiles.
