Land Grab

The runners are asked to go visit Freehaven Mokum for a job offer. There, they meet directly with The Frisian, a Dutch Penose crimelord who specialises in violence. Today, he needs the runners for a snatch and grab job that requires finesse, or rather, something other than brute force.   The job's target is Caroline Weber, who inherited the entire fortune of her uncle, Maddox Weber, after his private illegal animal collection turned on him. She has used the windfall to create a massive collection of historical documents. The Frisian needs a specific document of this collection, because it features the original Land Registry Survey of his right hand man's aunt. She has a conflict with a neighbour, so the Frisian is being petty enough to want the original survey to use for said conflict.

The Frisian is a violent crimelord whose normal approach to any situation is either threats or brute force. He made a fortune serving as a mercenary in the Dragon Civil War, participating in the GeMiTo battle that had an 80% fatality rate. Some suspect he didn't make it out alright mentally, shellshocked to the point of sheer madness. Others suspect the violence is a mask, purely meant to make people fear him.   His right hand man, Babyface, works well for any jobs where a smooth tongue is required. Babyface's aunt is being harassed by her neighbour, so the Frisian decided he'd try to socially destroy the neighbour first. If that fails, well, violence is always an option.

The Run

Maddox Weber had several mansions that he used for parties and showing off his wealth. One of them now holds Caroline's historical collection. Of course the mansion isn't without proper security. Caroline might be wasting her uncle's ill-gotten gains, but she's still not going to let people come in and take it from her. So there's guard dogs, patrols, cameras, sensor traps, and more.   Fortunately, Caroline often uses the mansion to host charity events, including one tonight. That will provide the runners with a chance to at least get through the door, either as guests or as staff. Of course they then still will have to deal with the security inside.

Word on the street

"It is a petty move which requires robbing an uninvolved target. As such, my personal interference seems uncalled for. So I would like you to steal the document for me instead.."

"Caroline Weber is still discovering her uncle's skeletons, even though he died years ago. Tragic, really. Torn apart by a tiger, they say. Hope the poor thing didn't get indigestion."

"Warning. Warning. External interference detected. Engaging lockdown protocol. Engaging security protocol. Detain all possible threats. Eliminate all hostiles."

The Complications

Caroline Weber doesn't know that her uncle had prepared his mansions well against attacks. During the party, while the runners are trying to get to the right records room, a guest's kid accidentally triggers the old panic protocols.   Suddenly shutters block all outer doors and windows, while security drones come out of the walls to take down any possible threat. Now the runners have to deal with heightened security, utter chaos, and having to somehow make their way back out again.

The Aftermath

Utterly spooked by her own mansion turning on her, Caroline Weber sends out calls for professionals able to dissect her property. The Frisian doesn't care about the chaos, having gotten the original document and using it well. He's not responsible for the damage done, so his conscience is clear for a change.   Babyface's aunt manages to call for the immediately teardown of part of her neighbour's property, due to being 3cm across the limit. Petty revenge completed.

I fear he's too entrenched in Amsterdam, but I'm sure he can send some of his exterminators. They're the kind to actually bring flamethrowers.
