Ov-noemhun

Often around the empire you may see a creature, on four legs, with four sets of rudimentary pincers. The Ov-Noehun, or Ovno to the locals are a fusion of mechanical and mystical energies, to produce rudimentary constructs. Due to the complexity of the magics and the simplicity of the mechanics, while there are many Ovno in the republic, they do not see use for any tasks that are complex or require multiple instructions.

Utility

Currently simple tasks, like ploughing, or repeatable tasks like washing up are held by the Ovno, although an attempt to reverse engineer the beings was made, and an attempt to create an attack Ovno was made. It did a great deal of damage before it was taken down, but the Republic now carefully monitors those known to be of skill to create the beings.

Manufacturing

To create the creature, first the central frame is created within a wooden box. The gears are then worked together an attached to the external rods. The cloth body and the limbs are then worked together, before the magic is set to work around the entire thing. The magic tends to make the Ovno hardier than one might suspect it of being.
Complexity
The joints are clockwork, the sensors are magic, and its torso is usually stuffed cloth over the metal bones. More expensive models have been commissioned with a metal frame, but due to the bulk, the manifacturers currently stick with the cloth model.
Discovery
Discovered by experimentation on clockwork toys by a young magical child, its mentor helped build the first Ovno with help from the toymaker, the pair ceasing their previous works once it was discovered many folk had use for single use automatons.
