A (Hound Species) Family Unit in the Hezten Republic

With the many types of species in the Shadowlands, different species have different family dynamics across the world and within even the Republic itself.

Women

A family for the species is built around the female of the species. While the lady of the house is the core, with a household having between 1 to 3 males. The lady of the house tends to target a miliatary job within the republic, while one of the husbands tends the house, the others taking jobs within the community.

Men

With such a dynamic, families seem to be larger the more stable the family, is in the higher the status of the lady, and of number of men she takes into the dynamic. Attached to larger households are a number of serfs and staff, who tend to live in an attached building. Despite the staff, the first husband is expected to order and run the staff, from cleaning and dusting to washing and child raising.   The dynamic between the family tends to be based on mutual respect and defense, with a fierce loyalty built into the unit. As the female is usually larger than the males, female children tend to be more take hold of their siblings, although the males tend to be easier to set off into playful aggression.
REAL Estate   An interesting tension within the republic is the size of openings in buildings. Despite several attempts to get all openings standardised to suit the needs of all denizens of the Republic, some openings are deliberately narrow to hamper (Sauran species) while many low class buildings have lower ceilings and openings to make it uncomfortable for the (Hound species). This also means that even the most poor (Hound species) tend to own tall buildings, their spires rising up like fingers from the smaller buildings around them. They also tend to reside in two or three story residences.
