Icewarden

Icewardens are the ships of the Icerunners Guild, named after the first ship built by Marq D'Or and Kidjina when they founded the Guild.
They are huge ocean going ships made from iron plating strong enough to slice through the Sea of Black Ice. The largest of the Icewardens will be over 100 metres long, with hulls that are big enough to hold within them entire uncut Black bergs.

Icehold

The larges area of a Icewarden is the Icehold, whgich can take up to 80% of the ship's volume. This is where the bergs are held after being captured. The entire ship will open up at its midsection, and essentially 'swallow' the berg.
Within the icehold, the walls are heavily insulated and the climate refrigerated to keep the berg intact. The power is drawn from the ship's engines, and controlled by the crew's bloodmage.

Propulsion

Wind power

When travelling sunward, Icewardens take advantage of the prevailing winds that forever blow from shadowside. They unfurl vast spinakers from their masts
Smaller sails will be used to tack across the winds. This is commonly used by the smaller icewardens of the Silver Chamber as they traverse Reverence Bay.

Magic power

When travelling shadoward against the winds the icewardens will furl the sails and utilise their engines, powered by crystaline uhd they have gathered in the sales of the ice in the Gleaming City, or farmed from the geysers beneath the Sea of Black Ice itself.
The magic is channeled and directed by the craft's Bloodmage, and can be directed with enough force to drive the craft through the iceflows themselves. The Bloodmage will also augment the icewarden's progress by heating the iron hull which will melt the surrounding ice to aid progress.
As the ships propell themselves through the iceflows, they are surrounded by a constant plume of vapor and steam that falls ebind them in a wake of snow.

Weapons & Armament

The Icebreakers will be armed with ballista to help defend against the Frostbacks. These are sometimes converted into huge harpoons for the daring crew who hunt the Frostbacks themselves.
The crew themselves are capable warriors, and will defend themselves from any pirate foolhardy enough to attempt a boarding.

Armor and defense

The hulls of the icebreakers are made from thick iron sheets, buoilt to withstand the ice runs.
