The Calling
This world has become very dangerous. Big cities and populations have declined dramatically. Since the shadows became darker and more dangerous, monsters and creatures lurk within them.
On moonless nights, a light must be bright, or else you die. In the beginning, chaos was the norm. Towns and even cities were wiped out, perhaps by the act of an angry god or a lost bet between deities. Now, a long time has passed, and the people of this world have learned to survive. They have begun exploring the lost civilizations and wonders covered by the shadow dark. Some do it for the rush of danger, others for a long-standing debt, adventure, or the stories that will be told for centuries. Some just study this phenomenon. The question is, are you strong enough and lucky enough to become one of them?
Today is the day you put yourself to the test... In Skavnik, a very small town central to various points of interest for adventurers, gamblers, and thieves. there have been major attacks recently. Rumors say the torches just go out, and terror begins. The townsfolk, lacking skills or self-esteem, feel panic, while some have a small urge to take action if the time calls for it.
The wise believe it’s a mountain cave northwest of the town that its causing this commotion, a mountain where adventurers have been exploring for decades. A plan was set in motion by the town leaders and some notorious adventurers. While the fools of the town continue their lives, Last night screeches were heard from the mountains louder than ever before, sending shivers down anyone’s spine. This morning, a mandatory town meeting at the main plaza was announced. A somber tone, disappointment, and fear cover the air and the towns meeting is about to start…
Town Leader: Er, r, Erm :clears his throat: “Good morning to all the folks of this town.”
The crowd is impatient, confused, and shouting questions, demanding answers.
Town Leader: “Oh yes, yes, last night was a terrifying night indeed. Precisely about that, I wanted to talk… A plan was set in motion. We paid some adventurers a good amount to destroy the caverns to the northwest by collapsing the most dangerous areas of it. Unfortunately, they did not make it, and the town has no other means to hire any adventurers.”
He continued.
Town Leader: “I know we have the potential to put a stop to this mess. We will send groups of townsfolk to recover the TNT and destroy the cave. So, any interested, please step to the registration table.”
