Act III: The Return of the Heroes

When the party finally returns to town, they are greeted with what seems like a hero's welcome. However, it becomes clear that the town's master, Skavnic, is skeptical of their success and hasn't prepared a proper celebration. Despite this, Skavnic invites the party to the town hall to discuss the details of their mission, what they encountered, and their achievements. As a token of gratitude, he also invites them to the tavern, offering the first drink on the house. Before the meeting at the town hall ends, a guard rushes in and whispers something urgent into Skavnic's ear. The town master abruptly cuts the meeting short and leaves. Sensing something amiss, two party members discreetly follow him to the outpost at the edge of the forest but decide not to eavesdrop for fear of being caught.
