The 5 Seasons
Accacia, the isle of spring (South East) and native home of the gnomes, declared independence under the leadership of folk hero Petey Nein, returning the island to independence for the first time in its history since the humans arrived on its shores. The independence continues tenuously as tensions rise between the Sezony Kingdom and the fledgling nation.
Winterhold, the isle of winter (North West) declared independence shortly after Accacia fought a war to do so. The Dragonskull Empire was formed to allow the open practice of necromancy to replace the physical Workforce with undead following the loss of many lives during the War of the Dragons. The empire, partly due to their democratic Congress now has holdings across most of the island and extends across several minor islands and the young Grand County of Tuskhaven.
Decidua, the isle of Autumn (North East) declared independence following the the triumph of the Elven Principalities over the forces of the crown during the Human-Elven civil war. Many human settlements left deserted are being repopulated by the native elf population and the various factions of elves remain united by the bonds formed in war.
Tierra Del Sol, the isle of Summer (South West) is a barren wasteland sparsely populated by human and Tabaxi settlers and native Halfling people. The discovery and trade of Gunpowder has reinvigorated this land since it was decimated by the return of dragons as ruins are continuing to be rebuilt.
Grandlake, the central island, contains the archipelago’s largest city, Grandlake City, outpacing the next largest, Grainfare, by almost six fold. This island is the capital of the crown and is rife with corruption at all levels, even to the top where King Atticus Sezony usurped the throne by staging the murder of the good King George II (which partly led to the loss of the civil war). Recently, the crown has begun to heavily regulate the use of magic, especially as the prominence of gunpowder increases. The rest of the highly urbanised island has been mostly covered with human settlements almost to the point of bursting, heavily relying on the agricultural support of Accacia to feed their people.
Other lands exist over the shores too: far to the west, the wildlands plays host to some of the more remote settlements of the Dragonskull Empire as well as jungles and mountain ranges untouched by the people of Sezony. Far to the east, the land of Xi is home to the industrious Tabaxian people and communities of Kenku. The far off land of Parsen, settled thousands of years ago, is beginning to become a player in intercontinental trade since the decimation of major industries during the Dragon War. Other undiscovered lands lie just over the horizon, with new peoples and cultures waiting to be met.
