Lightning Rider

The Lightning Rider was a merchant zeppelin owned by the Zyulan Family. The Rider was the flagship of their merchant fleet and was the biggest and most expensive of the family's ships.   The Rider normally made trips from Taikle to Niere in order to deliver generators and other electrical parts. However, it was known that the family would occasionally use the ship for personal matters, such as when Liti Zyulan used it to transport the Spectral Heroes to Niere.

Power Generation

The engines within the Rider, as with most zeppilins, are powered by a combination of Ether and solar power. In favorable weather, the solar power is used to charge the batteries, while the ether is used as a backup supply of power in the case of long periods of overcast or stormy days.

Propulsion

Unlike the ornithopters more commonly seen on Nimbus, the Lightning Rider is propelled not by wings but by two propellers attached to the back of the frame. This is made possible by the gas that fills most of the zeppelin, which is lighter then air. While it as not as speedy as the smaller ornithopters, it makes up for that by having a much larger carrying capacity of both cargo and passengers.

Weapons & Armament

To ward off demon attacks, the Lightning Rider had three large ballistae onboard, in the fore, center, and aft of the ship. In addition, the ship carried a store of swords, war picks, ether bows and other weapons in the case of hand to hand combat.

Armor and defense

The outer shell of the zepplin is very tough and hard to pierce with conventional blades. However, if it were to be pierced, there are several orthinopter lifeboats in the cargo bay for use in emergencies.
