Swordsman Competition
The art of swordsmanship has gone back many centuries. With the development of many different fighting styles, weapons, armor, and beliefs, the title of Swordsman Champion needed to have a standardized meaning. This can only be done by the creation of rules in which all combatants follow.
These rules were created with the intention of allowing for the diverse fighting styles, weapons, and armor. That said, for the title of swordsman we have set some simple rules.
Allowed Weapons
All light and heavy blades. For the competition, the blades must be blunted for non-lethal damage, and all points must also modified to deal non-lethal damage as well. Magic can be used to enhance the effectiveness and the damage to an opponent, but it must not be lethal damage (ie flaming).
During combat, one may use the tools on hand to apply damage such as one's hands, feet, shield, or other items. All damage must be made with non-lethal intent.
Allowed Armor
All magical and non magical armor can be used for this however no other entity may assist the competitor. This means no animal companions, familiars, or standard companions. They may apply bonus before the competition begins, but not during the event.
Combat
Each round both competitors will try to score a hit on their opponent and apply the most damage they can. For every 10 points of damage struck, 1 point is earned. This value may change depending on the tournament. The first to 3 points wins. If at any point an opponent submits, or becomes unconscious, the remaining competitor is the winner.
Bracketing
All matchmaking and tracking of advancement is determined by the individual tournament, and does not have to follow any specific structure; however it is recommended it follows a standard system that fits the size of the tournament.
