Harvesthaul 12th-21st: Looting the Lair & Talking to Rust Monsters

General Summary

After an arduous battle with Gesthenzerai the Ravenous, the group was in need of some quality rest.
Upon making their way back to the herder's camp, a white Tabaxi Cenobite named Mountain Storm was waiting on the group, having followed them out of curiosity and decided to join for the time being.
Shrub nimbly and expertly skinned the dragon's hide, preserving its integrity for armor making. The herder husband and wife team, Matsuo and Okita, set to work drying the meat and cleaning the bones, while the group took a night to recouperate before setting off to search for the dragon's lair.
Very quickly they were able to locate the huge pair of intertwined cypress trees reaching above the canopy. The magic of the beast receeded after its death, and the walk to his lair was pleasant and simple compared to the slog of the previous two days. Underneath the tree, three simple rooms were dug, including one sized and outfitted for a humanoid, complete with furniture and even a stocked bookshelf. Among the treasures found, a curious book, Collected Scholarship on Sleight of Hand, stuck out on the shelf. Additionally, Cenobite robes in red and white were found along with other clothing in the wardrobe.
After a short trek back to the Cenobium, the group had drinks and a dip at the Hot & Cold Tavern, made some new friends in the onsen hot spring, and made their way to talk with Ko Steelfist, the blacksmith. They found out about his recurring issues with the soft and brittle iron ore coming back from the open mine on the mountain, got a referral to Yora's Leather Good's to prepare the dragon hide for armorsmithing, and were escorted there by Hirata, Ko's apprentice. While walking with him, they spoke about the opportunity to travel with them to Rainstar Isle and become his own master, and while intrigued he let slip his fear of travelling the open ocean.
After a well earned week's rest in town, the group decided to make their way to the mine to investigate the problem there. Upon meeting the miners, they learned that the iron seemed brittle and soft even coming off the main wall where it was mined. Upon taking watch at night to investigate, Mei Ling flew above a group of 3 rust monsters feeding on the ore and reported it back to the group. Shrub, naturally diplomatic as always, found that the 3 were simply stranded on the surface due to what seems to be a collapsed cave. The party decided to spare the poor creatures and investigate further, as the communication skills of the rusties were lacking detail...
