The Fallen Kingdom of Kelivar

Kelivar was an ancient kingdom, formed shortly after the rise of the new pantheon. It rose rapidly from seemingly no where and unified its region of Variathios in less then a decade. It was known to other fledging states of the time as a place of prosperity, advancement, abundance.   The people of Kelivar enjoyed a society which was propelled so forward by their advanced understanding of the Arcane arts. Travel was swift, their armies undefeated, and their crops were able to grow in less then ideal conditions and still produce a surplus. Great cities formed and were constructed and their works were becoming the envy of the world with their only possible equal rising south of the great mountain range in the lands of Vallonde.   However their rapid rise to power and prominence would not last forever. A series of catastrophes occurred each happening shortly after another. A plague ravaged the country side and several major cities, Barbaric hordes of monstrous creatures and peoples came crashing down onto their northern borders. An heir apparent waged a civil war to oust the current monarch, and then a powerful lich capitalized on the death and chaos bringing the countless dead into his service. Several other disasters would follow suit. But it was too much for the weakened state and eventually what few remained of its original inhabitants scattered to the winds, with conservative estimates of only a few thousand successfully escaped to spread news of this event. This nation that rose to prominence in a mere decade, fell within one as well.   Much of their kingdom was left to rot, be occupied by the horrific hordes of the Lich Sar'Noth, or to be claimed and transformed to a point of being unrecognizable. Many of the artifacts and great treasures of their advanced society still however find their way into the hands of curious collectors and wealthy nobles seeking to show off their status.....Though even the most learned of scholars lack the knowledge on how they properly would function....or even how in some cases what their function may have been.
