The Empire of Vallonde
The Empire is without a doubt at this point in Variathiosian history, the strongest nation to exist.For the past three centuries it has been such. Economically it has dominated the continent, it's military unmatched by any other nation. The only things stopping it hegemony over the continent are as followed.
Despite their unquestionable strength, a united front from all other nations would be capable with heavy losses both sides of repelling such a goal. Secondly their own contentedness of their current position. This has not bred complacency but a sense that more conquests would not benefit the empire enough to justify the conquests.
As it stands the Empire is the Great power. This is is envied by many kings, queens and even republics. But despite their envy they only ever see a part of its true glory. Imperial goods make it across the known continent but are often expensive and thus only the wealthy can afford to have them outside the Empire. The Empire also does not allow many people from others countries to visit save for specific cities and territories.
The neighboring kingdoms and states pay a 'tribute' to the Emperor every few years to assure their nations continued friendship and unity. Meanwhile the Empire itself pays tribute to the Imperial family as quasi divine. Great shrines to past Emperors exist along side with their patron deities and other honored/venerated ancestors.

Territories
Imperial Prefecture of Tianteng (heaven): The Grand Capital of the empire, and perhaps the largest city in Variathios. Some of its separate wards even dwarfing capitals of neighboring kingdoms. This city despite its grandeur is forbidden to outsiders unless granted a special dispensation. It is also home to the Imperial Palace which is a city onto itself. on the shores of lake Lao su it is the beating heart of the empire.
Prefecture of Fanrong (prosperity): The large port city of Fanrong is where the Vallondian merchant often meet and send goods out to be purchased by the various other states of Variathios.
Prefecture of Zhongcheng- (fealty): Mithraz while not a major threat is a nation which remains in a state of 'cold' relations with the empire. Thus the great fortress of Zhongcheng stands as a bulwark against any incursions from the deserts to the south. Its people are steeped in military traditions.
Prefecture of Fengfu-( bountiful): Fengfu is a settlement surrounding by vast farmlands and fields. nestled along the Feng river it provides a great bounty to the imperial stores when it comes to food stuffs.
Prefecture of Guāngcǎi ( honorable): Once at the borders of the empire it finds itself near but not in the hinterland. It has become a place of training and military preparation. Officers, and soldiers alike are drilled and train in this fortress city.
Prefecture of Shuǐjīng (crystal): A relatively new prefecture it sits on the borders of Ormest where it does trade with its neighbor and is often a place which is used to impress the western nations who come to parlay and talk with the empire. It displays beauty and harmony in is design and construction.
Prefecture of Qiángdà ( strong): A settlement which prides itself on craftsmen, and people of the mountains. Miners, lumberjacks, smiths, and so forth find a home here as many of the smaller settlements nestled near the mountains send their products to this settlement to spread through the empire.
Prefecture of Xīwàng (hope): A settlement and region steeped in faith, spirituality, and myth. The city of temples, shrines, and monuments is a place where many go to find peace and serenity and guidance in their future actions.
Prefecture of Kāngkǎi ( generous): This large port is where foreign nations send goods to sell or pay tribute to the empire. It is the only port which will welcome foreign vessels for a price. Much of the trade here comes from the eastern nations and as such the people of this city and region have developed curious tastes for foreign goods.
Prefecture of Yǎnjiǎng:(discourse) When diplomacy is to be discussed the small but beautiful settlement of its most eastern border is open for diplomatic discussion with the various nations of the east.
