Abyssal People

A race that originated from the leylines like the Daemons and Ferrymen. Abyssal People are akin to shadow people in the grand scheme of things. One can only perceive them out of the corner of one's eye when they do not wish to be perceived. They are not quite a calming presence as they are "considered" children of the Void. Some of them prefer darker places of the universe while others prefer to venture outward and discover the lands lit with light.


They often call those who live outside of the leylines, light-dwellers.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are humanoid, but their body parts are different in true form than human form for their survival against the humans.  They all come from the abyss within the Leylines.  Their skeletal structure is like obsidian or onyx.  Their blood is an inky black.  Their hair and eyes are dark colored, according to the pigmented branch they are from.  There are ten pigmented branches and the colors have mixed into more colors to fill the world with these unique beings.  Muscles and organs are darker shades than a human's according to pathologists.  Skin color can go from a sickly white to the deepest brown, almost black in human form.  Ethnicities are based on where in the world's leylines they are from.  Eyes glow within their true form, but they are covered in an inky darkness, a large and somewhat monstrous silhouette.

Biological Traits

Average Abyssal people's lifespan is 4,500 years. Their average height is based upon their true forms which can be 8 feet through to fourteen feet. Average weight can go to about over 255 pounds and up. They make up for their small stature with tremendous strength. They look like children of the Void, smaller segments of darkness and are called that. However, they were born from the leylines. Their true forms look like the shadows are burning them. Tendrils of darkness, or arms made of darkness can be upwards up to a few meters to 7 meters.

Genetics and Reproduction

They produce sexually and to an extent asexually.  The gestation period is eight to nine months.  An Abyssal Person has both genitalia, but will often switch to its feminine presenting side to have the child.  Children are born either as one or the other but have both genitalia.  It is a bit of a gamble when an Abyssal Person reproduces outside their race.  A few may have both genitalia like the parent.  Powers are identical in all genders of the Abyssal Person.

Growth Rate & Stages

It is harder to determine when the world has gone around the sun, Elidi in the leylines.  However, all Abyssal people increase in age with one revolution.  Children discover their shifting abilities around adolescence which is nine to thirteen.  There, they can shift between their genders.  They discover what side they like to them.  In some cases, they may like being all genders at once.  It is up to the individual to find what they like, not their parents.  Children are usually taken out of school in the light dweller's areas for their protection.  In the leylines, all the denizens know the child is discovering what they like to be.

Ecology and Habitats

In dark and shaded places within the world of the "light-dwellers".  They feel the most pleased on cloudy days and when the nights get longer in the autumn and winter seasons.  Their optimal environment lies within the abyssal or darker areas of the leylines.  They are not the prey, but the apex predators in those environments.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They may like negative energy, but they also enjoy other foods such as humans or other inhuman beings like most inhuman beings.  They can survive on negative energy, smaller leyline denizens, and/or animals.  Abyssal people who are more feral, tend to rip their prey apart before eating them.

Biological Cycle

The more feral abyssal people are very sleepy or lethargic in the summer and spring seasons where the sun is likely to shine the brightest and the days are the longest.  However, they are more alert when the nights are the longest, and in the autumn and the winter.  They can sense when a year has gone as opposed to non-leyline dwellers.  Abyssal people tend to mature around mid-twenties, and do not age further than that.

Behaviour

They are often mischievous and chaotic like the Fae, especially anyone who is a threat to them or others.  They are often placed in Chaotic or neutral alignments.  They are usually skilled at information gathering and intel, using their knowledge to their advantage against enemies.  There are great warriors within the populations of the Abyssal people.  It truly depends on the individual.

Social Structure

There is not much of a social structure, as the Abyssal People are fairly solitary people. However, they do like to congregate wherever there is negative energy or emotions.

Domestication

It depends on the free will of the Abyssal Person if they want to be tamed enough for human society or not. Abyssal People are usually quite chaotic.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Many black markets like to preserve the tendrils and eyes of the Abyssal People. Many people believe their bones and blood have magical properties for healing various ailments.

Facial characteristics

In human form they can appear as any ethnicity. In abyssal form they are coated in a darkness that seems to look very smokey. It looks they are getting burned by the darkness, but they are not. The darkness protects them. Their eyes glow and their teeth are a pearly white against the abyssal, pigmented darkness. They are gentle with whoever they are paired with. In interracial couples, the abyssal person will do their best to revert their limbs to human form so they can hold their lover's hand. This way their lover gets used to their true form.

They are usually very beautiful, almost sculpted.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They come from all various areas of the New World. They range by various pigments according to their ancestors. For example, northern Faa'rirhe would have indigo pigmented Abyssal people. They would have glowing indigo eyes and an abyssal indigo form in true form. More information will be stated in the general content bar.

Average Intelligence

Their average intelligence is higher than a human's intelligence. Their geniuses have a higher intelligence quotient than a human genius'. They are able to use more of their brains than humans can use theirs.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have heightened senses, heightened strength, heightened agility and dexterity, perfect night vision, and manipulation of darkness and shadow. They feed off negative energy and leave behind much positive energy.  They are almost like the void or the abyss itself.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

There might be some out there, which has not been discovered yet. Mostly because the more feral Abyssal people usually stay within the leylines.

Naming Traditions

It is often taking up names that represent the power of the night or darkness.

Major Organizations

• Serev'ka organization :: It is rare they join the Serev'ka organization and are often taken into custody. However, there is a percentage of abyssal people among their ranks.
• Vigilante group :: They are very likely to join up with the vigilante group to overcome the Cult of Miatel. They wish to live their lives in privacy.
• Pleiades Tea Emporium :: They are likely to work for this vigilante organization as informants.
• Cult of Miatel :: Unfortunately, there are some who have fallen for the teachings of Miatel's followers.

Many are born either female or male, but after a certain age, they congregate to a certain gender. Some are able to be born both female and male. After a certain age they can transform from either feminine form, masculine form, or both at the same time. It is up to the individual what they feel comfortable with and their pronouns are cemented when they reach maturity around their twenties.

It really depends on the inventions needed for surviving the leylines and its many biomes. Technology in the leylines are more magical than technical. However, they are not as nearly advanced as Vesperian.

Some dialects of their language are dead as more and more abyssal people populate the New World. However, they have runes of their own.

Common Etiquette Rules

They prefer patience in getting used to new people. They quite like mischief like the Fae. However, the abyssal people are very solitary and independent. However, once they get used to you, you are part of their circle indefinitely.

They do not have a dress code, because they appreciate a person's individuality and free will.

History

They originated from the deepest, darkest areas of the leylines. They are the darkness within the leylines themselves given human form. They are often mistaken to be "children of the Void", but they are not. However, the Void god loves them as their disciples or followers.

• Lahimiyaa ::They are intrigued about the Lahimiyaa, but find their body manipulation very dangerous.
• Fae :: They really like their sense of humor, despite it being dangerous.
• Elementals :: They are quite intrigued with the elementals and are impressed when they are able to happen upon a darkness elemental.
• Basilisks/Gorgons :: They are intrigued with the basilisks/gorgons and find their rivalry with the Siciliaa to be hilarious.
• Vesperians :: They are a little frightened, but the Void promises they will not harm.
• Ferrymen :: Are a little afraid of these beings who guard the Leylines.
• Daemons :: Are funny to mess with like humans, but they are a little afraid of pissing off the Ferrymen so they might leave them alone.

It really depends on their body type in human form and how they take care of it. Some are lean others are stockier. Some are muscular, while others appear overweight.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Their bodies are split off from the darkness of the leylines given humanoid form. They do not have markings on them unless they are in human form. Feral abyssal people usually have this to denote who they are loyal too. It gets covered up by the smothering darkness of their their true forms. Their hair is usually an deep pigmented color or a silvery white. Their eyes glow when in their true form. Their eyes are a deep color until they go into their true forms and their eyes glow like decorative lights.
