250 is a small number all things considered, certainly not large enough to able to provide a sufficient safety net in case of extreme disasters.
Interconnected Kin
Though Kin live in small groups, they are not isolationist. A robust communication network has been established between various settlements which spans the continent. Unsurprisingly, magic plays a large role in this network and spells such as Sending or Animal Messenger are heavily utilized. However, various non-magical means of communication are also employed, such as smoke signals and messengers.
However, the Kin do not simply stay in touch. The kin are encouraged to travel and find new communities to join and to share the knowledge they bring with them.
Bad Actors
Of course, there are those who look upon their fellow Kin in a different light. Some justify their violence through a philosophy of Might is Right, others through unfortunate circumstances feel that their own recourse is to take by force from others. Such bad actors are not common, but do exist. These groups tend to be nomadic in nature and generally try to keep clear of others until they are ready to strike. Such groups are not interested in taking prisoners, as increasing their numbers is generally not helpful. Instead they are usually focused on raiding supplies and ensuring retaliation is impossible.
