Waek, God of Water Character in Seram | World Anvil

Waek, God of Water (Wake)

Waek, the drowned, where there is water, waek is present. water begets life and water can take it away in a heartbeat. He can bring life to scorched earth and the driest of landscapes, and can bring seafarers to their doom.   He is often portrayed as the forlorn one, and seafarers pray that he remain that way and keep widla away. Children often hold a shell to their ear to hear Waek's call.   Waek is seen as floating, seaweed wrapped around ankle and wrist, holding him to the water. His tears filled the world’s oceans when he was abandoned by the other deities at the dawn of time.   He desperately tries to interact with the other deities, only his wife glathir is in contact with him. We do not know what he did to be abandoned by the others. He reaches out to Jarthi, and he extinguishes her flames, he gets too eager to rouse Klodd and Krothus and he can oversaturate the ground and wipe all life on it.   Those families of the lost at sea feel a fraction of what waek does.
