The Mother

They say The Mother was the first kiln discovered. a young enslaved mother (15) was fleeing with her newborn from her captors when she discovered the kiln. She had run for over two days in the frozen forests of Tundr. She saw The Mother in the middle of a frozen lake clearing and dashed towards it. the men who chased her were so close and she would rather die than give her child to a lifetime of slavery.   The Mother stood, feminine in shape. A head and torso were discernable in the kiln’s form. From the head and shoulders, streams of ice-blue metal fell.   The girl had run to the metal pooling under the kiln and waded in with her child up to her chest. the metal was warmer than the frozen lake that surrounded it. What we know now is no surprise, but to her, salvation came as she and her newborn received the first gift of the gods. When the men came at her, she stood in the metal and screamed. Her metal flew at the pursuers and ended their lives quickly.   The girl had eventually made her way to a village many days later, weak and sick, and told her story after regaining her strength from her ordeal. Locals didn’t believe her and thought she had gone mad but when she showed them her baby's spine they went to investigate for themselves.   They found the kiln where she led them. The elders of the village were adamant that it did not exist before. Some of the villagers entered the kilns metal, but only a short amount were gifted. These were the first recorded ferrus and they spread the word of the kiln. They did not keep the secret but helped the world change forever. Many Brave the harsh cold of Tsundr and go to the first kiln, especially young mothers, to pay homage to the first: Mira the White.
