Government

Direbury is run by a local town council made up of the prominent families of the town and is overseen by the Baron Direton whose family founded the town many years ago under the rule of the Kingdom of Trynce.

Defences

The town is surrounded by a ditch and palisades. 12 trained warriors serve in the town's defense, and a militia of 162 can be mustered in case of attack.

Industry & Trade

The locals thrive on trade from merchants traveling the Light's Path from Trynn to Trinata. The main exports from the town are grains and cattle, they are particularly famous for raising the fattest swine in the land. They import Fish from the coastal towns, and brick/stone from the mountains of the Vaulted Highlands. The locals create goods that are used locally and often make replacement parts for caravans passing through town.

Infrastructure

Direbury has had many improvements over the years including a sewage system, and stone houses in the main section of town where the shops and tavern are located. Farmers on the outskirts employ windmills to grind grain and cattle drawn plows for tilling fields.

History

Founded in 144 AD the town of Direbury rose from the scattered farmlands of the Trynce Kingdom. The town continued its growth throughout the ages until a Fire burned down almost half of the town's center where the town laid in ruin until the rebuilding under supervision of the Holy Trynnien Empire. Since then, the town has thrived and built itself to be an asset to the empire.

Points of interest

  • Annual Rebirth Festival- A jaunty two-day party, celebrating the rebuilding of the town Drinking, dancing, and feats of strength are all being practiced. But historical reenactments are greatly frowned upon.
  • The Hillcrest- A Hill near the edge of town that has a nearly perfect crown of mushrooms growing on it.
  • Booya- A local tavern game where a dagger is stuck tip down into a table. Each player must then balance their dagger on the flat of their blade upon the other one, causing them to stack up. If you knock them over, you lose and must buy the next round of drinks.

Architecture

The towns center is constructed of brick and stone housing and shops, with the large tavern being the most prominent structure in town just outside of the town proper. The rest of the town is constructed with thatched roofing and wood supports and beams.

Geography

Direbury lies in valleys between Nalar's Crest and the Prismatic Woodlands. The land here is made up of mostly soft rolling hills and plains. The surrounding area is home to the golden fields of grain and grand views of the Woodlands to the north. A small pond is stocked to fish for sport and is fed by small streams from the hills to the north.
