Government

The village of Cowall owes taxes and is under the protection of the Holy Trynnien Empire by proxy of Commander Kurlik. While the village falls under the laws of the Holy Trynnien Empire, the locals often continue the worship of their chosen spirits. The village more often than not defers to the guidance of the village Elder Samu over the laws of the empire.

Defences

The village is defended by sandbags that form a small sea wall to protect verses floods and abnormally high tides. There are a handful of trained fighters, but every man, woman and child would rise to defend the village from attacks.

Industry & Trade

Cowall is mostly self-sufficient only importing grains, spices, and liquor. They mainly export dried fish to the other Wojeki Villages but are known for cultivating squid to sell to the empire's noble class.

Infrastructure

There is little infrastructure here besides the bridges and piers used for fishing along the coastline, and the small dirt road that connects Cowall to the rest of the Wojeki villages.

Assets

  • Tavern: The Lonley Seaman
  • Blacksmith: Ironmast Finishings
  • General Store: Jacob's Shanty
  • Cruck House: Randy T's Beds

Guilds and Factions

The wojeki tribal leaders are in constant conflict with the tax collectors, guards and missionaries of the Holy Trynnien Empire , often leading to non-violent conflict and minor skirmishes.

History

Cowall is the ancestral homeland of the Itlimox tribe, the place where the spirit of the sea blessed the original settlers with a bountiful harvest each season allowing them to survive this far north. Now assimilated into the Holy Trynnien Empire Cowall is a shell of its former self as few remain in the ancestral villages, without the amenities of the larger towns.

Points of interest

  • The Cowall Sea Wall - A small handmade wall about 1/2 a mile long that protects the village proper from incoming tides and flooding.
  • Genesis Clearing - A few days west lies one of the ancestral pilgrimage points of traditional Wojeki worship.

Architecture

Structures here are made out of various materials, the tavern is built of treated wood and thatched roof, the blacksmith's forge is made of brick with a white tile roof and moss-covered walls. The general store is a treated wood cabin with large windows and simple furnishings, while the Cruck house is made of stucco with a roof made of straw and wooden beams. The fishing shacks are built on stilts 5 feet tall to provide a safe place to work during high tide.

Geography

The coastline makes up the majority of the town with the fishing huts built beyond the seawall. Cowall backs up onto the ancient woods of the Wojeki homeland, home to all sorts of creatures and other monstrosities.

Natural Resources

The natural resource harvested here is seafood and salt.
