Dragon's Ridge
Purpose / Function
Dragon's Ridge is a series of mountain ranges located in the South of Senmir. It is said that they were originally formed after and ancient king and queen sealed a terrible dragon away. Entrapping the dragon within the mountains. This rumor most likely started since from a distance the mountains do indeed look like a dragon's back. Although no dragon has ever been known to reach such massive size as the mountains, which is why it is believed to be an amusing story to explain the look of the mountain.
The Dragon's Ridge is a popular route for traders. The range of mountains being too wide to go around. They are rather long consisting of several miles. A rest stop near the middle of the mountains is available for those making the long journey. The path is well marked, but it is still difficult to follow since the mountain fog permeates the air. Deep green forests cover the West side of the mountains. While the East side slowly gives way sparse vegetation and eventually reveals the Arid Expanse
Seven dwarven Kingdoms call the Dragon's Ridge home or perhaps guard station is a better term. They are some of the most staunch believers that it was one of their kings of old, Hammreak Stealheart and his wife Ruvirra that trapped the dragon within the earth forming the mountains as we know them today. The current kingdoms are made up of many of the descendants of Hammreak and Ruvirra that separated and created their own kingdoms throughout the mountains. Mining is strictly regulated and controlled due to their belief that if they dig too deeply they could loosen the seals on the dragon and awaken it.
