Mana Eater

The mana eater is a creature from Nocturne that resembles a wolf crossed with a snake. Its vaguely wolf-like head has a large mouth full of vicious fangs. Its body is a long, serpentine form that splits into three barbed tails. Two short but muscular arms extend from just behind the neck, each with four fingers that end in vicious claws. The entire length of the body is covered in a strange, coarse black fur that looks almost like quills.
Each has three eyes, one vertical and two mostly horizontal slits. The eye colors vary between creatures. Most are green or blue, but some are gold, silver, or even white.
Mana eaters consume life energy and mana from the land by their mere presence, and like to claim a ley line nexus and grow fat on it. They're nigh invulnerable to magic and absorb mana from any spells cast at them, helping them heal. They can fire a blast of raw, ravening darkness from their third eye, which they use to rip life energy and mana from their victims.
Most people try to avoid mana eaters and not talk about them.
