Brain-eater

Brain-eater is the name that Isdra uses for a creature native to Nocturne.
The brain-eater looks a little like a three-foot long bat on stilts, those 'stilts' resembling small trees and providing camouflage. It has long fangs that glisten with venom.
A brain-eater will bite the back of its victim's neck to paralyze them, then pierce the skull to tap into their mind. If left for about half an hour, it'll rip out the memories and leave the victim a blank husk.
Most people die afterward. A few are rescued, but don't get their memories back.
