#25 - Owlbear and Treasure in the Lair

General Summary

When last we left our heroes...

Toot Toot had just opened a door to release a very angry Owlbear willing to tear anyone to shreds who got in its way. With a mighty roar, it bit into Toot Toot's shoulder and barged through the door trying to escape, and it knocked Artemis and Silda unconscious before Jafar managed to bring it down in a blast of magical fire.
Meanwhile, GEARBOX and Sister Garaele stayed with the elf prisoner, stabilizing their wounds and securing them with the shackles Gundren and Garaele had been in only hours before. Mittens tended to Artemis and Silda, making sure the two of them were stabilized and not in danger of dying from the damage they had sustained from the owlbear.
With the tower the owlbear came out of now clear, Toot Toot took the time to look around and found a small chest high up on a ruined ledge filled with coins, a potion of healing, and two spell scrolls. Excited by the find, Phony Quark went back to the chapel where all of Glasstaff's equipment had been moved to rifle through everything he could find there. Mittens and Jafar wandered the castle together using Mittens' Detect Magic spell to see if there was anything else they could find. They gathered various treasures, including goblin shelf mushrooms (of which Phony scarfed down a few before they could stop him), and a set of golden ritual implements from the chapel (including an astrolabe that Mittens found had an aura of divination magic around it).
While the smaller group was looting the castle, Toot Toot and Gundren pulled out the map to look at it more closely. It was labeled with the location of a place called "Wave Echo Cave," east of Phandalin and nestled in the Sword Mountains. Gundren explained that his siblings, Tharden and Nundra, each have their own copies of the map, and the two of them had gone ahead to scope out the area and then camp out and wait for the group close to the cave's entrance. Toot Toot pointed out that it might be time to start worrying about Gundren's siblings, considering everything that had happened to him and the fact that this White Spider character seemed to have his claws all across the area for some time. Gundren's face went pale as he processed the enormity of Toot Toot's realization.
Suddenly, all eyes turned to Artemis who had woken up with a violent start. He turned to Sister Garaele and asked if she knew anything about dreams - because he had just had a particularly troubling one.
In his dream, Artemis was back in Thundertree as it was before the eruption destroyed everything. He could see his neighbors all around him - his siblings playing in the street, Halia Thornton chasing after them, Reidoth the local druid watching all of them with a fond shake of his head. Then, ash filled the sky and a loud roar shook the air. Artemis looked up to see a terrifying sight. A green dragon, scales shiny as poison, circled above the village. He tried to run, but his feet were stuck to the ground. A thick cloud of green smoke engulfed him and his family, taking out everything in its path.
