The Avalonian Inquisition
An order of witch hunters loyal to Merlin High Magus of Avalon. The order was founded to help facilitate Merlin's usurpation of Soveliss the High God of the Arcane through the cultivation of devotion to his experimental Arcaneum fueled by the Grail rather than the Seed of Magic.

History
Founded early in 24919 The Inquisition was formed by Merlin High Magus of Avalon as a means to prepare for his plan to murder Soveliss High God of the Arcane and gain supreme power over all magic. The Inquisition targeted enemies of this plan after outlawing the worship of Soveliss in Avalon's borders leading to major tensions with Atlantis the home of the Sovereign Church of Soveliss.
After it's initial founding Merlin began to invest much of his time into cultivating a cult within the Inquisition that would begin to worship him like a god starting the cult of personality that would allow him to cultivate a god spark to attempt to contest Soveliss's influence over the seed of magic by bolstering himself with the power of The Grail.
In mid 24929 however, an avatar of Soveliss(238) would arrive in Avalon to oppose the Inquisition and with the assistance of his companions Merlin's conspiracy was derailed and he went missing after a mishap when attempting a profane temporal ritual to wipe Soveliss from history.
The Inquisition was shortly disbanded and Merlin placed on a list of international criminals by order of The League of Sovereigns thanks to lobbying efforts by the government of Atlantis and cooperation by Arthur's government in Avalon.
Members of the Inquisition were quickly rounded up and sentenced to exile in Carpathia for ten ages. Former members of the Inquisition will not be eligible for parole until the year at least 25926.
Disbandment
The Inquisition was disbanded by order of King Arthur on 10/8/24926 after the disappearance of Merlin and the Inquisition playing a role in the 87th Avalonian Civil War resulting in Mordred Pendragon holding the throne of Camelot for the bulk of 24926 forcing Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table into exile. Members of the Inquisition were stripped of all royal sponsored titles and those connected with Mordred's coup in Camelot were sentenced to Carpathia for life.
Mythology & Lore
Merlin was worshipped by a cult within The Inquisition as the reincarnation of Meryl the Arcane Titan of Evocation whom Soveliss usurped as High God of Arcane Magic during the Ages of Creation. He claimed he had returned to the material realm to punish Soveliss and those who follow him for misusing the power of The Seed of Magic and would create a new Arcaneum unsullied by the machinations of the foul god of lies through the power of The Grail.
