Soturi’kastiin
Middle ranking of the castes is the Soturi-kastiin – the Warrior Caste. Strength of arms is a prized trait of the Cursed Elves. By a combination of guile and might is how they intend to defeat their surface kin and the Lady. Might is precisely what the caste embodies. Leadership in the caste is determined by combat trials – with no rules beyond that it be solo. Members of the caste spend their days and nights training in warfare. This entails physical combat first, psychological warfare second. Some of their members also work with the Worker Caste in the creation of new armaments. Their members also hone their combat skills against monsters of the deep, which provides additional meat, hide, and tallow sources. The caste is comprised primarily of mundane combatants, though some hybrid mystical members exist as elite orders. The Varjon’valio (Champions of the Shadow) are such an order, comprised of Blackguards and Shadowdancers. Though technically a demotion from the Mystic Caste, members are afforded a great deal of respect as they dedicate themselves to warfare in service of the Keisarinna.
