Night Essence Balance

This myth details the purpose of the moon within the scope of Bolugama and it's place in the wider universe.

Summary

Night and day are two halves of the same whole, the essences of light and void balancing one another through the day cycle. The source of all magic, Bolu, became unstable during each one as there was no counterforce during these times. The sun produced an overabundance of light essence, while its absence did the same with void. Despite the balance within the day to night cycle, the excess was tearing the source apart.    The sun roasted the plants and animals and at night, the animal could not see and died in panic from fear of the darkness. In order to restore the world, the source began to leak opposing essence into the daytime. This condensed into shadow, created by living and non-living beings as a natural way to produce void essence and remain hidden from the beating of the sun.    At night, the light essence collected by the Bolu came together in the form of a ball of light essence. This large bringer of light provided beings with a way to see danger in the darkness and quiet their fears. However, the light itself was unstable and could not hold itself together without another factor. To solve this, the Bolu's earth and wind essences created a counter to the sun, the moon. Earth created its shape and the wind kept it in the sky.    Earth itself cannot hold light and each month the light dwindled and refilled, absorbing essence from the sun. This is why the moon is sometimes visible during the day. It is always there, collecting light essence.
