Rising Koi Saga: Chapter 30 Report

General Summary

With the final words of Akkoro’s voice echoing through the chamber, The Rising Koi are left to ponder the cryptic answers they received from the power behind both the Kuromizu Clan and the Brides of Akkoro. The former offered them shelter before their journey back up to the Surface.
With their minds racing, they stated they wanted more than that: They wanted actual answers. So Yoko came to see them and answer what she could. She spoke of how all of the Brides were lost souls, how they only killed those they thought needed to die– the Warden not in that number– she also expressed amusement at Yengandor’s infatuation with Kosaru and admitted that they hadn’t formed a plan yet as to how to get out of these hallowed halls… though she was confident they would find a way. Before retiring to rest, she warned them that should the Silverguard come to investigate and battle occur, they stay within the chambers so as to stay uninvolved. Yengador asked they try to spare Suki if they saw her, Yoko wouldn’t give them any promises.
Kujaku visited later that night as the Rising Koi debated the usefulness of a vigil, asking for their insight on an offer he was given: To become a Chosen of Akkoro, where he could bring change to the masses. He spoke of the unlikeliness of the survival of his business after his arrest. The Party, as much as they may have some lingering doubts, didn’t attempt to deter the man… leaving them to wonder what consequences these turns may bring, but eventually rest would find them. A rest interrupted for Yengandor and Apollo as the Brides slaughtered the patrol of Silverguard that found their way down as reinforcements in this late hour.
In the morning, the Rising Koi and Brides of Akkoro came up with a plan: Allow the Rising Koi to take credit in claiming to stop whatever nefarious plot the Brides had cooked up, while the Brides of Akkoro used the equipment of their victims from the night previous to disguise themselves as the patrol that found them. To better sell this, the Brides used both Kijo’s illusions and physical marks to make the Rising Koi look as if they had been in conflict. Kyoshin hoisted Kujaku over her shoulder and they began their tense march up back towards Silverhold. After a couple of tense interactions with more Silverguard that made their way into the mines in search of both parties, they were informed that the Warden would like them to see them within his office before their departure…
