Magus

A Magus is a being who has developed the ability to store and use magical energy to affect the world around them. This adaptation, though to varying degrees, seems to be possible for any species to develop-- regardless of mental aptitude. The condition is passed on to offspring on a genetic level and appears to fundamentally alter a being who possesses such a talent-- in all forms: Mind, Body, and Soul.
The Magical energy manipulated to a Magus’s will is known and measured in a unit called Mana. Sapient species who can use Mana have developed different ways of expressing this power into what are known as “Schools of Magic”, each with different laws that these expressions operate by that when better explored allow for a finesse to use Mana to a greater effect.
