Sidverite Golem Species in Seiðrheim | World Anvil

Sidverite Golem

The Sidverite Golems are an interesting species, they've come into existence by a statistically improbable accident.   The gnomes that had built defences around the spire they were tasked with defending did so in a very gnomish manner. They decided that the most reliable defence was to engineer some clockwork automatons and power them by a central core. Once they had the automatons up and running they settled into routine maintenance.   After 143 years the gnomes were assaulted by a powerful kobold legion and the automatons fell into disrepair. The gnome (insert name) tasked himself with coming up with a more permanent solution. He found that the automatons could run from a sidverite core with great power and efficiency. He had also created a automaton called "The Keeper" and this automaton was given its own smaller sidverite core to provide it with magical sentience. The Keeper was tasked with maintaining the core running all other automatons as well as repairing any damage automatons. After a while The Keeper realized it wouldn't live forever so it started experimenting, and by chance it managed to activate sidverite in a way that allowed golems to form from the sidverite without any need of mechana. Thus Sidverite Golems were born into existence and became the keepers of the spire.   Shortly after (gnome) had passed the gnomes were assaulted again and this time their whole city was burned to the ground with little to no survivors escaping. History of the coming of Sidverite Golems was almost entirely lost. Most don't even know there is an entire civilization of protectors living within the spire maintaining it.   The Sidverite Golems will imprison any intruders and bring them before the council for judgement. If the intruders resist capture then the golems will try to subdue them. If the golems feel they are losing they will activate the purging cycle completely eradicating all lifeforms within 300 meters of the core, since the gnomes may still exist the purging cycle will be alerted on a speaker system with a 10 minute countdown.
