Elderwood Guardians

Summary

The Guardians of Elderwood are but a peaceful tribe, they keep order and faith at their shrine in the wood. They consist of a multitude of creatures, as if they were their own ecosystem growing around a shrine.   It is a small village centered around a wooden fountain. The entire village participates in two daily rituals, one at sunrise and one at sunset. The rituals consists of woodshaping their hands into a cup and drinking one full cup of the water flowing from the fountain.   Often passerby are entranced by the beauty of the village. The Guardians are all but the most welcoming providing weary travellers with a meal and room service free of charge. All that they ask for in return is a gift from the homeland of the traveller.   In most recent times however, there is quite a stir going on at the village. One of the hovels is beginning to rot, some are blaming others for not following the faith and some are reciting the fates fortold.

Current Events

A dark wizard has been studying the village and has located the source of the villages power. He tried to steal the power for himself to create a legendary staff, but when he attempted to draw the power from the village the immediate surge blasted him out of the village and singed his flesh.   Since then he has been unable to enter the village. His intentions now are to convince the next party of travellers to steal the power from the village for him. He has many convincing stories, one being that he is just a wandering researcher and has been studying the rot within the village. He tells the travellers that to fix the rot he needs help extracting the source of the rot, and that he is too weak to do it himself. He says he will split the reward from the village with the travellers if they help.
