Tanju
The third world in the Handi System, Tanju remains a fractious feudal world held under control by the Steel Tigers Chapter. Heavily mountainous and countless bodies of water makes Tanju a natural fortress in its own right and its people no less hardy and self reliant as their surroundings.
Geography
Due to significant siesmic activity, Tanju's surface is fractious in the extreme. Almost the entire surface is covered in some mountain range with the highest being located in the southern hemisphere. Along with its steep peaks, Tanju boasts exceptionally rugged coastlines with a massive number of inlets, inland seas, islands, and peninsulas. Combined these features have prevented human unity since the Age of Strife and populations have established near impregnable city states across the surface, their defenses bolstered by the dramatic cartography of their world.
Ecosystem
Due to the altitude, exposure to coastlines, and large bodies of water, the overall climate of the world remains largely humid and cool for most life save for the equatorial belt. Massive and dense conifer forests cover any surface able to seed them. These "Tower Trees" evolving to survive and stay upright during the many earthquakes experienced by the world and grow exceptionally large due to their hardiness. Most specimens are known to grow up to 70 meters tall and 4 meters thick at the base. Tanju lumber is noted throughout the sub-sector for its size, flexibility, and durability.
Most life has likewise evolved to take advantage of these forests with Tanju having one of the greatest variety of avian life within the sub-sector, its largest avian predator being the Mireu, a coastal fishing bird with 13 meter wingspan. Dominating the north and south poles however, were trees begin to thin and colder temperatures prevail, the top predator is the @spine. These ferociuos predators can grow up to 4 meters long and weigh a metric ton. Their deadliest feature though comes from the half meter long, barbed spines on its back that it can "throw" at prey and assailants.
