The game of Mydst

"They stood in the scarlet ocean, lifelike and lifeless. The cards must take for them to give, this time they had taken." - On Mydst, Hinterlandic Folklore

History

The game is said to have originated from the red sands of the roaring dunes. There are both Khyrrian and Skiiperish legends regarding the game, and it is widely present in both cultures, though it can still be found in many places throughout the known world.

Execution

The game is played with two to seven players and a designated judge. Players draw a card at the beginning of each stage of the game and a single player will progress through each stage of the game before others take their turns. The first stage of the game is the "Birth" stage, where the player must describe the start of a story based off of the card they have drawn. They will then progress to the "Conflict" stage of the game in which they must describe the primary conflict of the story based off of the card they have drawn for this stage. Finally they undergo the "Resolution" stage, where they must determine how the conflict is resolved based off of the final card they have drawn. Once all players have gone, the Judge will determine whose story was the best and that person wins the game. In some tournament formats the Judge will instead determine whose story is the worst and that person will be eliminated.
