Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nu'ala is a 5'6" elven woman with a small frame. She is quite slim and looks taller at a distance due to how she is built.

Apparel & Accessories

Nu’ala wears a plague doctor’s mask. It was given to her during her days in the Grey Family to hide her identity from their enemies. She still believes that hiding her identity is something she should continue to practice. In fact Nu'ala doesn't show skin, wrapping herself in bandages and black cloth.
She also has a heavy amount of salves and potion boxes hanging on either side of her hip. These contain what alchemical supplies she needs on missions.

Personal history

Nu’ala was born to an offshoot branch of one of the four high elven families. The Idril family was small, consisting of really just Nu’ala and her mother, Arnyan. She never knew her father but was told he died in a war. Her mother didn’t elaborate further then that and that was enough for her.
While attending school, her mother fell to a sickness and Nu’ala was forced to care for her. Using her education in the medicine and magic, Nu’ala attempted to reverse the disease. Her efforts did not work. Instead it only seemed to slow the illness’ march. Running out of funds and time, she turned to the criminal underworld. By bypassing channels Nu’ala could gain rare herbs and funds for her research but at the cost of a great growing debt to a criminal syndicate known as the Grey Syndicate.
As her debt grew and her failed attempts increased, she began to provide her services to the Greys, making potions for them to gain more resources. She had to heal other members of the syndicate, kill for them, and even assisted with the extraction of information from it’s enemies. Nu’ala’s attempts continued to fail, even as more expensive and exotic herbs were attained. Promising to return and repay her debt, she left for Kinzokolos and the human nations to learn more about medicine.
While gathering information on possible remedies and chaos in the human nations, she befriended a Warforged who taught her more advanced ways of potion making. The Warforged, Antziohk, brought methods from another world, advancing her knowledge by several lifetimes. In return Nu’ala returned what knowledge she had of elven society and history. Antziohk expressed his desire to visit Nu’ala’s home and planned to head to Ambarad ahead of her with the two making plans to meet there.
Nu’ala continued her business in Kinzokolos for a short time before returning. She arrived to see Solizan and the rest of Ambarad being destroyed. Believing her mother to be dead, as well as her only friend, she left with the Luminaries seeking for some cause to give her some semblance of purpose.

Mental Trauma

Due to her extensive medical knowledge, Nu’ala was often used by the syndicate for asssistance in tortures. By causing pain, she was able to soften them for others to extract information but this has caused her to become desensitized. She also feels extremely guilty about what she’s done and is haunted by her victims screams.
Losing her mother and Antziohk have make her question what she is even doing with her life. In her eyes, Nu’ala has achieved nothing and is both disappointed and disgusted with herself.
Nu’ala has a constant fear of the Gray Syndicate. She doesn’t know if they are destroyed but if they aren’t she is afraid of what they’ll do when they find her. She hoards money for the anticipation of paying off her debt of 10,000 gold.

Nu'ala wants to pay off her debt and feel like she's doing something by helping the Luminaries.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Not a people person and has a poor track record of getting people to see her way. She tends to advocate the more brutal mob tactics she has seen with her time with the syndicate but will back down if persuaded to. 
Nu'ala is also a city folk, doing poorly in non-urban areas. She has little knowledge on non medicinal herbs or plants. What medical and alchemical knowledge she does have though makes her quite valuable in a pinch.
She has turned to alcohol to give herself a bit of relief from her mental troubles. Using her talent for alchemy, she has learned to make her own alcohol as well as an alchemy jug for an infinite supply.

Likes & Dislikes

Nu'ala dislikes people inquiring about her past. She likes to keep herself secret but may divulge such information if someone becomes friends with her. 
She enjoys healing others although her methods of healing are rather violent.

Hygiene

Very clean but smells like a mix between an earthly crushed herb smell, alcohol, and a pharmacy.

A former member of the criminal underworld who has racked up a dept attempting to cure her mother's illness. In the end, it was all for nothing and circumstance brought her to the luminaries.
