The Devil's Vault

At the epicenter of a rugged badland in northern Impiltur stands a large blueish black tower of spiked profanity, standing like a spike of midnight from the sun blasted landscape. This vault rises just as far below as it does above. It serves as a hellish prison holding the most obscene people and creatures that cannot be tolerated anywhere other than this bleak prison. The isolation, coupled with a horrible reputation makes this a rarely visited location.
The Vault is world renowned for holding extraplanar threats, with a balor the crowning inmate, held in a large spherical chamber of black iron chains.
Serving as a warden for the prison is a practical death sentence, with no sugar-coating to dull the horrific truth of life in this place. Those who have worked here and leave often commit suicide from the trauma they suffer here, or perhaps a curse set on them by the place itself. The longest lived wardens have been there for decades, and fear leaving lest their purpose in life be lost.
