The Abandoned Continent

Geography

To the far north past the snowy wastes of Artika, the north pole is an isolated island surrounded by a sea of chaotically shifting and melting ice. The moons pull more strongly on the north pole, causing tidal pulling to move the sea of ice about. Also, the extreme axial tilt of the planet causes the summer month to reach high degrees into the 60s, with the long winter plummeting towards -150 degrees. This makes journeys through the icy sea only possible during summer, with a window of less than a month before it becomes too unpredictable again. In winter however, the sea freezes over completely, and is crossable by foot, if you can survive the temperature.

Fauna & Flora

The Abandoned Continent itself is larger than even the most liberal scholar's estimates, with vast flat plains of snow, to towering black peaks covered in ice. It is a land of extreme, and is rightfully abandoned by people. However, there is surprisingly life, even if sparse. Only tribes of Frost Giants, packs of winter wolves, and White Dragons regularly live here, in fact there is no more coveted home for the dragons than a roost on the Abandoned Continent. There is of note one odd exception, the rarest of all elf races also live up here, the snow elves. This breed of elf is immune to the cold, and is unknown to the lands to the south, reclusive beyond the confines of their frozen home. Only one recorded snow elf has lived beyond the continent, and she is responsible for most of the known cold spells to the wizard class, but that was millennia ago.
The dragons call this land Nargothrond, which is also a draconic swear word to all other breeds aside from whites.
