Istria
The tide rolls slowly, waves serenely bobbing the heavy mercantile ships as their crews unload their cargos onto the docks. Businesses are bursting with people and coin, taverns flowing with drink and cheer. Homes flicker with light and life, huddled together among the stone streets, with carts and foot traffic bringing a buzy bustle to every road, corner, square and thoroughfare. Lake Cerknica draws people to its green space and pleasent waters, families swimming, lovers sharing a picnic, and others enjoying a walk. Intermingled between the homes and shops, carving out a small estate one might find one of the manors of the Senators who oversee the populace of Istria. Most of these manors try and creep their way up the side of the Castle Mountains, with Mount Vogel rising highest of them all, it's sharp crown ruling over everything as far as the eye can see. Following the short Savinja River from it's birthplace at the mountain crest, down the waterfalls before coming to quickly to the sea, the Bridge of Feuds crests the burbling stream. Craggy searocks give way to white walls that form the base of Seaspike Castle (Morska-Konica Grad), an immense beautiful complex of white stone with red tile rooves, centered around the great spires of the castle proper, more decorative than functional, with the Square of Peace opening to the rest of the city, and the Bridge of Feuds beginning the Sijana Road east.
Istria is a city renowned for its economic freedoms, tolerance of race and species, and breathtaking beauty, both natural and architectural. It serves as the central focus of the Republic of Istria, holding the lion's share of power over the countryside to its east past the Castle Mountains.
