Low-Berth Chamber
It was a way to travel; just not one Tanner quite understood.
Low-berth chambers are a specialized type of stasis chamber used to keep people in a cryogenic sleep. These chambers or 'pods' are standard equipment on any size ship that travels between the Cores.
The most popular use is for a customer to pay a relatively low fee and be transported in cryosleep from one desalination to another. For the ship doing the transporting, the overhead cost is low as low-berth passengers need food supplements instead of full meals. Oxygen and water use are minimal as well.
