Pool Regeneration and Management Overview
Training the Pools
General Training Framework
Primary Stat Improvement: Players improve the primary stat for a pool through dedicated in-game training, either manually or via time-based training.
Manual Training Mechanics:
- The player must engage in specific activities that challenge the relevant pool.
- Training involves meeting precise thresholds without overexertion (e.g., avoiding a zero pool state).
- The number of successful training cycles required equals the current stat value of the attribute.
Stamina Training
Primary Stat: Endurance
Pool: Stamina
Mechanic:
- The player must reduce their Stamina Pool to below 10% for at least 30 seconds without depleting it entirely.
- Maintain a delicate balance by alternating between walking, running, and sprinting.
- To increase Endurance by 1 point:
- Complete a number of successful 30-second sessions equal to the current Endurance stat value.
- Example: If Endurance = 10, the player must complete 10 sessions to raise it to 11.
Game Feedback:
- Visual/audio indicators show when the stamina pool is in the training range.
- A progress bar tracks completed training sessions.
Consciousness Training
Primary Stat: Vitality
Pool: Consciousness
Mechanic:
- Players engage in combat or take controlled damage while keeping their Consciousness Pool above 10% but below 25% for at least 30 seconds.
- This encourages players to take risks in combat or participate in controlled sparring scenarios.
Additional Training Sources:
- Use specialized training facilities like combat simulators or sparring with NPCs to reduce risk.
- Controlled damage mechanics: Damage from training exercises does not fully deplete the Consciousness Pool, preventing unintended knockouts.
To Increase Vitality:
- Complete a number of successful training cycles equal to the current Vitality stat value.
Mana Pool Training
Primary Stat: Mana
Pool: Mana Pool
Mechanic:
- Players must drain their Mana Pool to below 10% and maintain that range for 30 seconds without hitting zero.
- Casting small, controlled spells is key to maintaining the balance, as overexertion leads to mana burnout.
Additional Training Sources:
- Practice low-cost magical abilities repeatedly.
- Specialized magic trainers or focus challenges can provide more structured training opportunities.
To Increase Mana:
- Complete a number of successful training cycles equal to the current Mana stat value.
Alternative Time-Based Training
For players who cannot or do not wish to manually train:
- Dedicate game time (e.g., a few in-game hours or a full day) to focused training.
- Training requires a payment for access to facilities, NPC trainers, or gear.
- Yields incremental stat improvements (e.g., 1-2 points) after sustained effort.
Training as a Resource Trade-Off
Training introduces meaningful trade-offs:
- Time Investment: Training pools detracts from time for jobs, studying, or social interactions.
- Resource Management: Players balance stamina, mana, and consciousness for sustained training.
- Progression Choice: The player decides between improving their stats for future gameplay or focusing on immediate survival and debt repayment.
Pool Regeneration
Stamina Pool
- Regeneration Mechanics:
- If the stamina pool is fully exhausted, the maximum stamina pool for the day is reduced by 1%. This penalty can be removed by sleeping for at least 6 hours.
- After complete exhaustion, the stamina pool will regenerate to 80% of the maximum value within 30 seconds of rest.
- The remaining 20% will regenerate over the next 10 minutes of light activity or rest.
- Encouragement of Strategic Use:
- Players are encouraged to manage stamina carefully to avoid exhausting the pool and incurring penalties.
- This system balances risk and reward while keeping penalties manageable to avoid frustration.
Consciousness Pool
- Knockout Mechanics:
- If the consciousness pool is completely drained, the character will be knocked out for a time based on the source of unconsciousness.
- A minigame is available to allow the player to attempt to wake the character earlier, maintaining engagement during this downtime.
- Post-Knockout Recovery:
- Upon waking, the consciousness pool will be restored to 20% of the maximum value.
- The remaining consciousness must be recovered through sleep or external aids such as stimulants.
- Modifiers:
- Caffeine or similar stimulants: Add 10% to consciousness when consumed.
- Debuffs like knockout gas: Reduce the current consciousness and may lower the maximum consciousness temporarily.
Mana Pool
- Exhaustion Mechanics:
- If the mana pool is completely drained, the character will be knocked unconscious until the mana pool regenerates to at least 5% of its maximum.
- In areas with corrupted mana, this regeneration will take approximately 6 hours.
- Purification and Usage Notes:
- Magical girls can use purified crystals to recharge mana pools more efficiently.
- Proper management of mana is critical in avoiding unconsciousness, especially in high-stakes scenarios.
