Weyhrbloom

Something truly alien which crashed thousands of years ago.

Geography

The Weyhrbloom covers a vast expanse consisting of flat land that funnels into hilly rises.   Several lakes and rivers wind through the Weyhrbloom, with the rivers carrying fresh water into these lakes and providing water sources for those dwelling within.

Ecosystem

The Weyhrbloom has a wide variety of flora and fauna. Many of these cannot be seen anywhere else, and are unique to the region and its alien origin.   Over two thousand different insects occupy the Weyhrbloom. None of these can be found elsewhere as they either feed on unique plant life or require specific nutrition which can be gained just through consumption of other bugs or particular toxins.   Two dozen unique avian species occupy the Weyhrbloom. Of these the largest is the Kathraxi Bladewing,  a massive bird of prey which posseses sharp edges on its outermost wing feathers. The smallest of these avians is known as the Bright-Sun Cheeper and it is a small yellow bird that screams.

Natural Resources

A series of powerfully narcotic plants. Healing herbs. Bright colored poisonous plants.   A variety of wildlife including birds, frogs, and insects, all of which are a resource in their own right.   Dyes which can be easily derived from plants and bark.

History

The Weyhrbloom came into being in the aftermath of a crashed extraterrestrial vehicle, which also contained the progenitors of the elvar species.   This ship, the Saranice, had been intended as a seed ship for a dying civilization systems away, but the crashed ended that dream and instead spilled a great deal of biological life across the continent it landed on. Seeds and spores and foreign growths quickly settled into the ground, rapidly overtaking natural life and asserting itself, rendering the Weyrbloom a bristling green hyperjungle.

Tourism

Weyhrbloom tourism is a trade that often gets folks killed as they refuse to listen to native guides.   When visiting, safe paths are clearly marked and individuals are dissuaded from venturing too deeply into the Weyhrbloom.
