Dragons Pass

One of the Great Wonders of the World. Dragons Pass is a Sandstone bridge built on top of a solid glass foundation. Spanning the entirety of the Azure straight, it bridges The Eye with the Raiding Grounds of Sausordad, Sausordad, The Arid King himself formed the structure of the bridge while slave laborers and artists worked on the rest of the details.   Dragons Pass is as much a passage as it is a market and a camp. While not many permanent structures are allowed to be built on the bridge, thousands of tents span into a seemingly endless marketplace where anything can be bought and sold.

Purpose / Function

The Bridge is the only footed path from the arid expanse of the Raiding Grounds to The Eye of Sausordad. The bridge spans tens of Miles across the Azure Straight. Originally used for Military purposes as to prevent loses when crossing the straight, it has more often been used recently by civilians, merchants, and adventures who are travelling too and from the Capital, Souria.

Alterations

Since it's founding, Markets and camps have created some permanent residents on the bridge. Small outdoor Churches, huts, and large tents create a makeshift village that spans the entirety of the bridge and beyond.

Architecture

The Bridge Spans the near 24 Mile (39 KM) Azure Straight. With an average width of 250 Feet.   The Foundation of the Bridge is made of Solid Glass slabs similar in texture to Fulgurite made from the breath of Sausordad. Arid Rock and Sandstone have been enchanted for permanency. These materials create the body of the bridge. Decorative accents and statues made Obsidian and Glass are scattered throughout the bridge. Most notably are two obsidian dragon statues which mark the halfway point of the bridge.

Tourism

A pilgrimage to the Pass is not uncommon for those on the Continent of Fartho. Merchants and thrives seek fortune on the bridge hoping to exploit the gullible and weak. Traveling the bridge can take days if lead on foot. Inns have once been built along the bridge but have since become gang hideouts and Military outposts. Organized camps have been established for those who hope to have a more peaceful rest. For a small fee, one can hire a guard to watch their tent as they sleep.
