Thalus' study of spirits to control the populace, started in earnest by the discovery of Sigils the year prior, comes across the effect of the Strix. He imprisons one with Equilibrium Mirror and begins studying it, seeking a way to use its spiritual effect to rend and destroy the morale of the populace and make them easy to control. Caspar was part of this, through it all.
