The Silent Massacre

At a speech at the Social Oratory, assassins claim the life of the budding revolutions leader before its true inception. Vox Cuhlecain of the Vox Populi is slain, and within a magical net of silence, arcane golems and incediaries are fired, attempting to massacre all who agree with the message before it can spread.

In truth, the event is much messier. Vox Cuhlecain did not exist, as he was a fabricated man of illusion made to inspire the populace whilst being immune to the magocrat's ability to assasinate through dream. You cannot enter the dreams of a fabrication.   However, the Vox Populi aimed to make Vox Cuhlecain a beloved, perfect figure, and then stage his assassination themselves to frame the city for the crime. The city had the same idea, aiming to kill all who witnessed and frame the Empire's bombs as they rapidly approached the city to demand it ally with them or surrender.   Unfortunately for the magocrats, many escaped to tell the tale, and all planted evidence of the Empire's false involvement was erased by the bloodier-than-expected resistance of the revolutionaries... who have much more magical ability and Arcanists allying against the Conservatory than the elite magic dictators believed.
