First head-on battle of the war since the Battle of the Red Moon, and one that the Second Jeriec Empire vehemently espouses as the reason the war went on for the next few years, as they did not participate in it willingly. The Highlands demanded the battle be fought.

A large number of Banneret forces holding the western sea-flank and Yggdran Canals decided to go against the plan of the Imperial Alliance, due to both conversational delay and desire to protect their home.   They meet the Shrike in battle at the Crystal Cape.   In truth, their plan is to weather it down as it flies over the canals, siege artillery and guerilla tactics, with divine light, banishment, cold iron-bearing Hersir elite. They manage to dislodge a portion of the tower, causing a large chunk of it to fall upon the Red Fens, where nearly a hundred Arcanists battle against some of their own summons, as well as IA/Banneret forces. The magic they levy, as true arcanists, in their close but complete deaths, scars the land forevermore.   All that fought upon the Red Fens that day died, as the very magic cast came to life to reap harvest and revenge.
