The Void Elves

The Void Elves were created by Avernus towards the end of the wars with the Titans of Jhar'gorn. He did so by swaying some Elven slaves to his side, and commanding them to steal from the Giants, as they went on their travels. Returning with Void Ink, one of the Materials and Fragments of the Themes, Avernus found them to be one of the most devious and intelligent living beings, but lacking in innate ability, unlike his own creations. Avernus bathed them in the Void Ink, destroying many of them down to their Runic Essence, but those that had the will to survive were the Avernal Elves, the Void Elves. They may have been the new favorite creation of Avernus, but time was not left for them to take the place of the Hob in The First Jeriec Empire if so, for the war ended soon after.   As the world was wrapped around Avernus like a prison, the Void Elves were taken beneath at the same time, held close in the God's Passages as Sartova churned to chain him. They live still in Avernus, in their great city of Cinder. They controlled and protected the Heart of Avernus for millennia, but when the advent of the first Demon Lord came into being, they were driven back.   Forced to destroy all of the Titan's Gates that led into their Aorta, they were safe for hundreds of years from the life-creating politics and war of the Demon Lords that would rise and fall, until the Headless Lord found need for the magic their kind had kept and expanded upon over their existence. Now they live in His dominion.
