Greed Demons

A Mezzodemon's martial prowess is purely fearsome. They delight in destruction, despite being cautious enough to flee from battle when anything isn't trending in their favor. Honor and duty mean little to them.
Mezzodemons had a reputation as the foremost mercenaries in the old days of the First Jeriec Empire, due to their love for treasure and tendency to work alone, or at least, to despise those that give them orders.
It appears that mercenary work is derived from an old culture employing Demons in exchange for some sort of payment. It makes your skin crawl to think of what sort of payment a Demon might desire.
When a Mezzodemon dies, it reverts to it's natural form, a thrashing mass of a thousand beetles.
