Commonly used phrases, Humans
"Playing the Mithril market"
The mithril market is legendary for its instability, and plays a large part in the diminishment of Dwarven funds. People will often say 'you might as well play the mithril market' to indicate disdain at what they believe to be a fools errand, a risky maneuver, or a hoax.
"The Niroi will eat you!"
A commonly used threat, especially on the weak and weak-minded. Niroi are perceived as a myth, and also relatively weak. It is generally agreed that Niroi, if they exist, would be a primitive species that poses little threat against modern society.
"Goblin's favor"
kidness done for the sake of greed, i.e. attending a funeral because you hope you've been included in the will. Generally seen as a positive trait among goblins, downright insulting to Hobbits or elves, and acceptable among humans.
