Himse the Prophet (HIM SAY)

Prophet Himse

"That which is pure and true, like the Sun above, is beautiful, and that which is beautiful is pure. There can be no denying the highest beauty. Wickedness may mask itself in beauteous raiment, but its true nature cannot be hidden."
-Words of the Prophet, collected and written, c. 500 BT
Far back into the age of myth, a elven noble was born, who many years later would be given a vision by the sun god, Calowean. Taking the name Himse he would spend the rest of his very long elven life spreading the faith that bears his name and became the religious basis for the arguably most powerful nation on the face of Sanzeia, Himse, Republic of. Though shrouded in myth and interpretation, it is said that the basis of the schism that lead to the Exile of the Dark Elves was a personal disagreement between Himse and the Immortal Empress.

Holidays

Said to have been born on the first of sun god's month, further highlighting his concoction to the elven divine. Yienaf, the day of Himse's birth is widely celebrated with festivities throughout the lands of the Sun Elves.   There is some debate (outside of the Republic) as to the veracity of this date, owing to traditional references that are not typically associated with summer months, and the fact that the Dywdian Calendar was created some 3000 years after the prophet's birth and the coincidence is notable.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

The priests of Himse tell that before becoming the Prophet, the man who would become Himse spent the first 500 years of his life as an elven noble, fully experiencing the degradations of their society at the time. Why partaking in that idleness, Himse was given a vision of what elf culture was meant to be from the divine of the sun himself. This new elven religion caught on quickly and by the late 1500's BT was uniting the various elven city states under a shared identity that would lead to the formation of the Republic proper.   Tradition holds that when the Prophet's life reached its end, the sun god himself uplifted Himse's spirit to tend to his divine lands, and that one day when they have obtained a level of beauty and perfection on par with him, Himse will return to guide the sun elves out of darkness.

Social

Reign

Though the exact dates are muddled, Himse served as the spiritual leader of the of Enorei, and thus the state that expanded out from it until his death. It is generally accepted that he did not live to see the formal founding the republic, though at least one tale claims that Himse brought elven leaders together on his deathbed and effectively created the Republic before dying and ascending to the sun as a ray of light. This tale is generally considered allegorical.

Religious Views

The beliefs derived from the teachings of Himse and built upon by the Himsean Faith at the most basic level outline a continual search for beauty, light, and goodness and a shunning of things that are dark and impure; central to the faith is the concept that the moral on some level knows divine right from wrong, and thus sees good as beautiful and evil as horrid.
